Part of what I try to do with my self-confessed ICT Evangelist role is to try and pass on some of the cool hints, tips, bits of info, gadgets, education technology, web 2.0 tools etc that I find on my virtual travels in the Internetland.
One such find recently was SlideRocket.
To keep it simple, SlideRocket is like a cross between PowerPoint and Prezi – it’s got some of the cool flash based tricks that you might find in a Prezi, but with your more traditional slide based approach to presenting that you’d find with PowerPoint.
Here’s an example of one I messed around with earlier:

Positives:
· It’s free
· It looks cool
· Embedding videos from Youtube is a breeze
· It can make your presentations stand out from the crowd
· It’s easy to use
Negatives:
· You have to pay for certain features like keeping your presentations private
· There isn’t a huge amount of templates to choose from
Overall it gets a big thumbs up from me. With >1gb of storage space for assets such as images too – it’s well worth a peek.
SlideRocket employee here. Thanks for the review! As a former teacher, I’m glad to hear the education community is embracing cloud-based solutions like SlideRocket. Enjoy!
