The 2026 AI Almanac for Educators is Here

By January 14, 2026No Comments

Want to know your MCP from your RAG to your LLM, ML, NLP and CLT? If not, you need the 2026 AI Almanac for Educators.

AI and EdTech are at the forefront of thinking in most schools now. It shapes how we teach, lead, safeguard and operate, yet the language can sometimes make it daunting. That’s why I’ve updated my AI Almanac for 2026 – to cut through the jargon so you can have informed conversations.

At its heart, it’s about AI literacy, giving you and your pupils the understanding you need to use these tools safely, critically and effectively. It’s intended to be a practical guide to the terms that matter, helping you understand how AI supports learning, inclusion and workload, rather than just hype.

This year’s edition includes new concepts like Agentic AI, AI Orchestration, and Synthetic Media Literacy, alongside updated entries reflecting how AI is now being used across school systems. Many entries have been refined, with some removed and others added to reflect the current landscape.

AI fatigue is real. You already carry a heavy load, focused on teaching well, keeping pupils safe, and supporting young people as humans first. I hope the Almanac helps reduce some of that burden by making the language of AI simpler, clearer, and more useful.

If you find it useful, please do share it far and wide.

If you’d like practical support implementing AI in your setting, I’d be delighted to help. As one recent client shared:

“Mark delivered an outstanding AI training session for our entire staff body… we’ve seen a surge in staff embracing AI tools, significantly reducing workload and freeing up time for more impactful tasks.” – St Damian’s RC Science College.
