This week’s share was one I very nearly didn’t do, as I shared 5 cards thinking about feedback in last week’s formative assessment resource, but as I was working through the papers, reading up again on Kluger and DeNisi’s work reminded me that more than a third of feedback interventions we give actually make performance worse; therefore, I thought it worthwhile to share a few ideas on how we can make feedback better.
Grounded in the likes of Hattie and Timperley, Sadler, Butler, among more and of course including Wiliam and Black, I hope it goes a bit beyond just ‘two stars and a wish’ for you!
Honestly, can’t believe we’re now halfway through the project, next week we are looking at Classroom Questioning and Discussion, followed by Explanations and Modelling and finishing off with the one we all love, Metacognition and Self-Regulation.
As always, it’s free to download, print and share (with a Creative Commons license). And given the topic, I’d love some feedback!
