‘Twas the night before EOS conf and right through the ship,
Not a creature was stirring, not one little bit.
Pirates in hammocks, they were not a stirring,
In the still of the night, nothing was occurring.
The sea-dogs were snoring, the waves gently lapping,
Against the side of the ship, came a gentle tapping.
A hook could be seen that would soon get them yearning,
Engagement abound at the things they’d be learning.
Then out on the deck there came such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the deck I flew like a flash,
With my pirating shoes I really could dash!
Stood there on the deck was a man with a cutlass,
Dave was his first name with the surname of Burgess.
Arrived had this maverick to inspire us all,
He leapt to the poop and we were enthralled!!
“Get up all ye teachers!” The pirate did shout,
“I’m here to help bring to your lessons some clout!”
The rest of the crew they did jump to attention.
They hoped that on Twitter they might get a mention!
As the big day approaches we all cannot wait,
To hear from Dave Burgess who can help with our fate.
The treasures of learning where the kids run to school,
Not wanting to wait to learn the next thing that is cool.
So pick up your pencils and pads and your glasses,
Pay attention to this man at the front who amasses,
The most wonderful sharing that will not be private,
Let’s all learn together and TEACH LIKE A PIRATE!
