The more I use the iPad with learners of all ages, the more I am convinced of its validity as a way of truly engaging real opportunities for making learning interesting, relevant and fun. Pictured in the shot is my 2 year old boy who is reinforcing his learning of the alphabet using ‘Elmo loves ABCs’. In the app he gets to practice drawing upper and lower cases of letters, phonics, words beginning with different letters and more. He can’t get enough of it either. He sees his learning as playing and wants to get on there all the time. Rhymes like ‘C is for Cookie’ and ‘O o o o o…Octopus’ sung away from the machine, show he is taking that learning away from the machine and reinforcing it, all whilst having fun too. I’m thinking I need to get him on ‘Mr Thorne does Phonics’ next!
