The BBC has launched a brilliant new campaign, the BBC Bitesize Guide to AI, to enable young people to thrive in an AI world. Thirteen informative, engaging and inspiring short films cover essential AI tool knowledge and showcase how AI is changing industry sectors and enhancing careers.
I was so proud to be involved as the lead education and AI consultant.
Designed for 14-19-year-olds, the BBC Bitesize Guide to AI will give teens the skills and knowledge they need to get more confident and comfortable using Artificial Intelligence tools. These films and articles are complemented by interactive quizzes to embed key learning around AI models.
A recent BBC Bitesize and 5 Live Teen Summit Survey revealed that a third (30%) of teenagers are worried about AI’s impact on issues including careers, creativity and the spread of misinformation. A quarter (24%) also struggled to find out where to learn about AI and how best to use it. This new Bitesize campaign and free learning resources are a perfect way to support young people to embrace AI’s potential!
Seven informative films can be used as an introduction to all the AI essentials: wellbeing support, revision, art and intellectual property, social media transparency, prompt writing for text and image generation, and sustainability. Six inspiring interview features showcase how AI is impacting music, conservation, wellness, fashion, gaming and sport. The whole collection is designed to ensure young people use the right AI tools for the right job, and can do so mindfully, with awareness of the benefits and challenges.
