Testing ‘CoverItLive’

Apr 27, 2012 by     No Comments    Posted under: Everything ICT, iPad apps, TeachMeet Clevedon

So this coming Thursday, TeachMeet Clevedon is taking place (if you hadn’t noticed! One application I’ve been looking to examine for some time is ‘CoverItLive’ – I’ve heard great things about it from the likes of @CheriseDuxbury and @JamiePortman on his great post on the app/topic here with some fab ideas. I thought I had to try it out for TeachMeet this coming week. This is my trial and as you can see it works really well! You can put images and posts up yourself either using the online client software or one of the different mobile apps they provide. It will also pick up hashtags in the timeframe that the event is happening too and drop them in. There are options galore.

I’m definitely going to be using it for #TMClevedon on Thursday.

An updated version of the ‘CoverItLive’ below will appear both on my blog and on the http://bit.ly/clevedonteachmeet wiki.

Videos of the various presentations will appear shortly after they have occurred here: http://youtube.com/tmclevedon

Integrated blogging app for iPad

Mar 4, 2012 by     4 Comments    Posted under: iPad apps

Following a recommendation I’ve just downloaded the ‘Blogsy’ app for iPad. As you’ll see from the screenshot, there are lots of built in formatting features, which if you’re a Posterous or Blogger user makes it super handy.

It makes it super easy too to add in different media with the social media tie ins you can see on the side bar. Flickr, Picasa, YouTube, Google and Safari are all supported.

It also supports multiple blog formats too, so whether you’re WordPress, Joomla, Drupal or pretty much whatever; Blogsy is a one stop shop blogging platform for all your needs. Tidy!

STUDYBLUE | Superb app for studying notes & testing yourself

May 26, 2011 by     No Comments    Posted under: iPad apps
Check out this website I found at studyblue.com

Ok – so you love Evernote? You use it to take photos of evidence. You use it to write notes in class to keep them organised? You sync it between home, smartphone, ipad, home device etc etc?

With StudyBlue, what you can do it sync your Evernote account so that your notes can be transformed in to various revision tools. What is particularly nice about the StudyBlue site and associated apps is:

a) it’s incredibly easy to do

b) when you are creating your study aids from your notes, you’re revising then too

c) the quality of the resources is up to you, but it’s really helpful

d) in addition to the resources you set up, StudyBlue will recommend similar resources by others on similar topics so you can extend your revision

e) you can add a whole class of students to a class you’ve set up as a school on StudyBlue to distribute your own teacher resources

The list continues – don’t just take my word for it – check it out. I can’t wait to get it embedded further in my lessons!

This lovely little online application does what it says on the tin. Featuring a chat room, ability to make notes and collaborate online in a quick and easy fashion, I’m really liking this app.

Try one I made here http://corkboard.me/p6JLuUNg6V - I’ve made a short ‘how to’ video which can be viewed here via undertenminutes.com thanks to Ian Addison if you want a quick demo too – visit http://www.undertenminutes.com/?p=157

What do you think?

Google Shopper app

Now this looks really good. I tried scanning the book nearest to where I was sat and it found it first time. The app appears to show either local prices based on your GPS or competitive online prices. It also picks up other info about the item which you can the favourite or ‘star’ so you can refer to them later on. See screenshots for examples. Interesting little app! Not really #edtech but worth a look!
